2479 Horseshoe Road upper leacock, Pennsylvania - US Congressional District PA16
On north-bound Horseshoe Road (SR 1003) in both East Lampeter Township and Upper Leacock Township, there are many sections of pavement with dangerous longitudinal gaps. This photo was taken on Horseshoe Road under the overpass bridge (PennDOT #1124), just north of the intersection with Eby Road (T749) in Upper Leacock Township.
These gaps, often 2 to 3 inches deep, are particularly dangerous to bicyclists. In addition, Horseshoe Road, south of the intersection with Eby Road, is part of Bicycle PA Route S which makes this situation even more serious.

Wissahickon Bike Trail Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Manayunk
12/27/2014 There is a large crack in the Wissahickon Bike Trail, about 1500' upstream from the Ridge Avenue trailhead. It is located across the creek from Gypsy Lane and Wissahickon Hall. The split in the paving is getting wider and longer.
Doesn't anyone from Philly Parks and Recreation patrol this trail, report problems like this one, and see that they get fixed? Or would that be asking too much in return for our tax payer dollars?

Wissahickon Bike Trail Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Manayunk
Poor drainage along the Wissahickon Bike Trail has been causing the trail to become a water hazard and then, later, a mud bog. The picture is from several months ago, just after a spring flood.
Since the trail was renovated in 2007 with $1.4 million (federal funding), it would seem that there has been little or no maintenance to the bikeway by the city. Vegetation grows out over the path in the summer, and mud and leaves narrow the trail in many sections, dangerously crowding together the mix of cyclists, runners, and walkers.
This drainage problem is another example of the poor design and construction of the renovation, and the lack of maintenance since then. Other sections of the trail are too low and frequently flood, first leaving a pool of water and then leaving a covering of thick mud. It is located across from Wissahickon Hall (Lincoln Drive and Gypsy Lane).
Similar problems exist on the recently renovated, and also poorly designed and constructed Manayunk Canal path.
